One safety feature of the drone app is the enforcement of a minimum battery % for takeoff. This defaults to 30%.

You may change higher to increase your safety margin this although it can't be set lower than 30%.

In addition to this setting, the app will still perform an endurance check at takeoff. Eg, if you have planned a mission of 20mins duration but only have an estimated 10mins of battery left, takeoff will still be prevented.

Changes must be made prior to takeoff

There are two options that affect takeoff battery
  • Minimum takeoff battery - controls the raw battery % below which takeoff is prevented. Decreasing this will allow takeoff on less battery.
  • Maximum aircraft endurance - The max flight time on a 100% charged battery. At takeoff time, it is scaled by the remaining battery %, then compared to the estimated length of the flight you have planned. If there is not enough time left, takeoff is prevented. Increasing this will allow takeoff on less battery or longer missions
Both of these are advanced settings and you should be very careful about changing them.

To access this setting, go to app settings

Then choose advanced preferences.

From there you can access the two settings affecting battery at takeoff
  • Lowering battery % will allow takeoff with less battery remaining (30% is the absolute min)
  • Increasing endurance (measured in minutes) will allow longer flights with less battery
